2016 Meigs 101 • JULY 27 - 28 • 8am - 11 am
Thank you to the 2016-17 Meigs Hospitality committee, Meigs Mart, our PTO exec board and parent welcome liaisons for making our orientation a great way for parents and students to start the year off in-the-know. The PTO really wants to thank our teachers and administration for taking the time to make our orientation very informative. We will begin planning the 2017-18 101 in late June with dates set by the end of the school year for families who have been accepted through the MNPS lottery. Look for emails and announcements at meigspto.com or http://www.meigsacademicmagnet.org/
Meigs 101 / Parent 101
New student orientation. is recommended but not required.
Parent 101 is July 27th ONLY from 8am till 11am
Meigs 101 for students is both July 27 and 28th from 8am till 11 am.
New families, look for emails!
Meigs 101 and First Day VOLUNTEER INFO
This is a fun and great way to be in the loop at the start of the year...secret perk is you see class lists before anyone else.
The Meigs 101 committee is key for our new families to help them adjust to Meigs life. (LINK TO 2016 VOLUNTEER )
As a volunteer for this event you will be responsible for working with the office staff to make Meigs 101 run smoothly. This includes organizing the stuffing of folders for the first day by homeroom during the teacher planning days before the school year begins.
Items usually included from the PTO in the first day folders:
Send Back
Evrits Info Sheet (how parent and student information appears in directory)
Evrits Confirmation/Correction sheet (crowd-sources parents to confirm they have logged on, corrected their own info or need help correcting)
Keep for Reference
Try the Ride MTA info
Text Reminder Opt-In
Meigs Mart Flyer
PTO Welcome
Invest Info (car tags? or "marketing strategy")
The Invest committee gives us what they need to go in to packets for PTO fundraising, and they are responsible for all of their own copies of the brochure and the letters. The only things provide as a PTO are the Evrits forms parents check to see if their info is correct AND PTO flyers. See list above. The Evrits committee prints the Evrits sheet once the MNPS student contact records sync.
Barbara Klausner our office book keeper is the point person to coordinate the orientation. [email protected]
This committee also helps sort the papers that come back in the packets the first week. Super easy and done as a small group of about six volunteers in the conference room. The volunteer coordinator will set up a sign up genius online where parents can sign up. Look for those announcements via Evrits in July.
When enough people sign up the coordinator(s) do not have to be physically present every day. Commitment is a morning volunteer slot the first two weeks of school. as well as the days scheduled for Meigs 101.
